How The Green Movement In NYC Is Working With #OccupyWallSt
1. Organizing Group Donations Of Clothes
Autumn is in full swing and NYC is getting cooler and wetter. Donate warm clothes and other essential items to keep the occupation strong!
- sweatshirts
- sweatpants
- towels
- blankets
- sleeping bags
- socks
- instant heat packs
- feminine hygiene products
- watertight bins for storage and transport (large and small)
Greens are coordinating group donations on a weekly basis. To contribute, please fill out our donation form and email dani@gpbk.org if you have questions. Let the occupiers know that Greens care!
2. Donate Kitchen Space, Your Shower, or Extra Bed For a Night
The #OccupyWallSt kitchen crew has a fair amount of food to work with, but they need places to cook and prepare healthy meals for the occupiers. Tell us when you can host a cooking team in your kitchen, and help the occupation without having to leave home! You can also host occupiers who have been in the park for days or weeks, and just need access to a shower and a warm bed for the night.
As a resident New Yorker, you can provide an invaluable service to the courageous out-of-towners who traveled here to fight corporate rule. Fill out the hosting arrangement form and email eaganann35@gmail.com with questions.
3. March With The Greens This Wednesday In Downtown Manhattan
A coalition will march to Wall Street in solidarity with the Occupation this Wednesday (10/05/2011) at 4:30pm. Meet the Green Bloc in front of J&R World, 1 Park Row at Ann Street at 4:30pm and we’ll link up with the march! Email michael@gpbk.org or call 917-825-3562 with any questions.
Other ways to help: Greens have been fighting the corporate domination of government for a long time, so now it’s even more important to be seen being Green! Help table in front of Zuccotti Park, register new voters, or even just help hold up a Green banner. Email michael@gpbk.org to get on the schedule. You can also attend Occupation General Assembly and Working Group meetings to help keep the Green Movement plugged in.
