Sunday 4/18 @ 11am, Gowanus Canal Earth Day Flotilla Spring Clean Up
Meet up at 2nd and Bond and Canal in Brooklyn.
Presented by the Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy
GPBK is inviting Greens to join the Urban Divers and dozens of environmental stewards & waterfront access advocates for an Educational Ecocruise on the historic (and notorious) Gowanus Canal aboard a 32 Foot Indian Shipping Canoe. The canoe accommodates 21 paddlers at a time.
Last month, after decades of struggle, the Gowanus Canal was listed as an EPA Superfund Site, bringing national attention to the polluted site and carving a pathway toward effective clean-up and ecological restoration.
But for the Canal to get the clean-up our community deserves we must continue to organize and advocate! So let’s get on the water, learn something new, inspire, and educate!
